AGT MADE HISTORY TONIGHT. Three Golden Buzzers. One premiere. And Love Island USA's villain was gone before she ever stepped into the villa.
Simon Pulled the Buzzer Before Sofia Could Stand Up — And He Did It Three Times (Sort Of)
The record is official: AGT Season 21's premiere was the first in show history to hand out three Golden Buzzers in a single night.
14-year-old Lai Noelle came in looking nervous, sipped the water Terry Crews handed her, then opened her mouth and sang Sienna Spiro's "Die on This Hill" with a smoky low voice that left every judge frozen. Simon told Sofia he wouldn't press — Sofia telegraphed she was about to stand up — and then Simon hit it anyway. Gold confetti. Sofia's face: betrayal with a smile.
That was only the first buzzer. Judges also sent Luke Taleno and acrobatic group Supernova Acro straight to the live shows, burning through three of the season's ten total Golden Buzzer slots before the first episode was even over. One buzzer left in the judges' combined six. Terry still has both of his.
1Love Island USA S8 Dropped a Cast Member Before the Season Even Started
Peacock's Vasana Montgomery was removed from Love Island USA Season 8 after old social media videos surfaced of her using a racial slur. The show confirmed her removal. She was replaced ahead of the June 2 premiere — meaning viewers who tuned in tonight saw 11 islanders instead of the originally announced 12.
The villa opened tonight at 9 PM ET with Ariana Madix back as host. Producers teased a major twist in the first coupling ceremony — islanders entered the villa at night for the first time, and couples formed in the dark. First week chaos is already in motion.
23Jeopardy's 8-Game Giant Killer Finally Went Down
Chris D'Angelo — the content manager from Washington, D.C. who knocked out 10-game champion Tristan Williams — lost his Jeopardy! seat Monday June 1 after going 8 wins and $194,201 deep. The killing blow: Final Jeopardy in "Idioms & Expressions." Nobody in the three-contestant field got it right. D'Angelo wagered everything on $11,200, went to $0, and new champion Peter McFerrin won with a $1,701 safety wager. D'Angelo locked his Tournament of Champions spot either way.
Chris D'Angelo's run: 8 wins, $194,201, giant killer, ToC-bound. Peter McFerrin takes Tuesday.
